Guest Speakers Highlight:
Katie is a self-proclaimed extrovert with high energy and a love for being around people. This love for people comes in handy as a mom of 7, because she’s truly never alone. Katie is a resident of Ringgold, VA and wife to Jason Thornton. Their kids Tyler, Sierra, Dean, Emma, Christopher, Alena, and Tait keep life busy and interesting.
Life has not always been rainbows and sunshine for Katie but she has a way of overcoming obstacles and making a comeback time and time again in spite of the adversities. Her genuine smile and transparency about life is communicated through her love of sharing the story of God’s grace and mercy. Through her story of trauma recovery there is a resounding message of healing and ultimate love, the kind of love that can only be in Jesus.
Katie’s passions include her love for Christ, her love for family, and her desire to always keep her sisters and friends laughing and smiling.

Sophia Massenburg often affectionately called “First Lady” or “Pastor’s Wife” by many has dedicated her life to living by example and encouraging others to live their best life in and for Christ. She has been teaching, counseling and encouraging others for many years. She is a visionary and very compassionate about reaching others by being transparent and caring with the knowledge she has been given by God.
Lady Massenburg is a native of Sussex County, Virginia and is the youngest of three. She was educated in the Sussex County School System, where she was enrolled in the Advanced/Academic Program. She earned her B.S. Degree from Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Hassidiah Baptist Church where she was very active in the choir and the Usher’s Ministry.
Due to her husband’s corporate position changes and relocations, Lady Massenburg has served in various capacities at various churches to include Deaconess, Assistant Head Usher, Director of Christian Education, Preachers Partners, Sunday School Teacher and a member of the choir. She has also co-chaired a Marriage Ministry, with her husband, in a church of over 3,000 and continues to counsel and encourage couples to stay together. She is a member of the International Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows of Danville, Virginia and Vicinity where she is currently the Assistant Recording Secretary. She works side-by-side with her husband in ministry as well as Christians United which is a service ministry led by Pastor Massenburg. Lady Massenburg is in the process of writing her first book, “Marriages Can Last Forever and be Beautiful”.
She is a wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, friend and mentor. She is happily married to the love of her life and best friend, her high school sweetheart, Pastor Dwane Massenburg for 39 years and currently resides in Caswell County, NC. They are the proud parents of 3 children. She is known as “MiMi” to her 6 grandchildren which she truly adores and dotes over every chance she gets.
She has been employed with the Department of Corrections for over 20 years. She is truly addicted to recipes and loves to cook and bake bakery style cakes, pies and rolls. Aww, yes they are to die for or should I say live for. Some of her other hobbies are making deco mesh wreaths and knitting.
She shares her love of God wherever she goes and to whoever will listen. Her heart and soul are dedicated to serving God and leading others to Christ. One of her spiritual gifts is (Helps) serving others, something she truly enjoys and you can see in her. She is on the move for God and considers herself a servant of the Lord. Lady Massenburg’s favorite verse is Psalm 118:24 ~ This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
